GOD'S PROMISES

God has not promised skies always blue, flower-strewn pathways all our lives through. God has not promised
sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way, grace for the trials,
help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love.

LITTLE ANGELS - Author Unknown

When God calls little children to dwell with him above,
we mortals sometimes question the wisdom of his love.
For no heartache compares with the death of one small child,
who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the old-aged to his fold,
so he picks a little rosebud before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them, so He only takes a few
to make the land of Heaven more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "goodbye."
So when a little child departs, those of us left behind
must realize though God loves children, angels are hard to find.

LIFETIME WISH - Author Unknown

If I could have a lifetime wish, a dream that would come true,
I'd pray to God with all my heart for yesterday and you.

A thousand words can't bring you back. I know because I've tried.
And neither will a million tears; I know because I've cried.

You left behind my broken heart and happy memories too.
But I never wanted memories...I only wanted you.

A PUEBLO BLESSING

Hold on to what is good...even if it is a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe...even if it is a tree which stands alone.

Hold on to what you must do...even if it is a long way from here.

Hold on to life...even when it is easier letting go.

Hold on to my hand...even when I have gone away from you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS - Author Unknown
We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too.
We think of you in silence; we often speak your name,
but all we have are memories and your pictures in a frame.
A million times we've longed for you...a million times we cried.
If love could only have saved you, you never would have died.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. Part of us went with you the day God called you Home.
In life we loved you dearly; in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one can ever fill.
Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in His home; we have you in our hearts.
A PLACE WHERE CHILDREN ARE - Author Unknown
What kind of place would heaven be with all its streets of gold...
if all the souls that dwell up there like yours and mine, were old?
How strange would heaven’s music sound when harps begin to ring...
if children were not gathered round to help the angels sing?
The children that God sends to us are only just a loan.
He knows we need their sunshine to make the house a home.
We need the inspiration of a baby’s blessed smile.
He doesn’t say they’ve come to stay, just lends them for a while.
Sometimes it takes them years to do the work for which they come.
Sometimes in just a month or two our Father calls them home.
I like to think some souls up there bear not one sinful scar.
I love to think of heaven as a place where children are.
WE LOVE YOU
The world may never notice if a snowdrop doesn't bloom,
or even pause to wonder if the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms, or ever comes to be,
touches the world in some small way for all eternity.
The little one we longed for was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty, our souls know what to do,
for every beating of our hearts says that we love you.
GOD'S ANGEL - Author Unknown
You were our little angel who we loved to hold so close...
the softness of your baby skin like petals of a rose.
We loved it when we cuddled you and held you in our arms.
You were our little angel with sweet angelic charms.
We think back to memories...so precious and so few...
for one day God had chosen you to be his angel too.
WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
When tomorrow starts without me and I am not here to see,
if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me...as much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand
that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.
LULLABIES - Author Unknown
Daddy, please don't look so sad. Mommy, please don't cry.
I'm in the arms of Jesus and He sings me lullabies.
Please do not try to question God. Don't think He is unkind.
Don't think He sent me to you and then just changed His mind.
You see, I'm very special and I'm needed up above.
I'm the special child you gave Him...the product of your love.
I'll always be there with you, so watch the sky at night.
Find the brightest star that's gleaming...that's my halo's brilliant light.
So Daddy, please don't look so sad. Mommy, please don't cry.
I'm in the arms of Jesus and He sings me lullabies.
OVER THE MOON by Jim Howard
Where I have gone, I am not so small.
My soul is as wide as the world is tall.
I have gone to answer the call,
the call of the one who takes care of us all.
Wherever you look, you will find me there –
in the heart of a rose, in the heart of a prayer,
On butterflies’ wings, on wings of my own.
To you, I’m gone, but I’m never alone.
I’m over the moon, I am home.
SOME PEOPLE MAKE A DIFFERENCE by Emily Matthews
Some people make a difference just by being who they are.
Their inner light shines bright and touches lives both near and far.
And even when they’re gone, they still forever play a part
In the smiles, the priceless moments that are treasured in the heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'M THERE INSIDE YOUR HEART

Right now I'm in a different place, and though we seem apart,
I'm closer than I ever was...I'm there inside you heart.

I'm with you when your greet each day and while the sun shines bright.
I'm there to share the sunsets too...I'm with you every night.

I'm with you when the times are good, to share a laugh or two,
and if a tear should start to fall, I'll still be there for you.

And when the day arrives that we no longer are apart,
I'll smile and hold you close to me...forever in my heart.

DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL by Canon Henry Scott Holland

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you...for an interval somewhere very near. Just around the corner...all is well.

SPECIAL ANGEL

There's a special angel in Heaven that is a part of me.
It is not yet where I wanted her, but where God wanted her to be.

She was here just a moment, like a night-time shooting star;
and although she is in Heaven, she really isn’t very far.

She touched the hearts of many, like only an angel can do.
I would’ve held her every minute if the end I only knew.

So I send this special message to the Heavens up above...
please take care of my special angel and send her all my love!

LOVE IS FOREVER - Author Unknown

Love is the one thing that death cannot take.

Love is the one bond that nothing can break.

Love is a cord that time cannot sever.

Yes, love is eternal; love is forever.

THE ROSE BEYOND THE WALL from the writings of A.L. Frink

Near shady wall a rose once grew, budded and blossomed in God’s free light,
watered and fed by morning dew, shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall, slowly rising to loftier height,
it came to a crevice in the wall through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength with never a thought of fear or pride.
It followed the light through the crevice’s length, unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view were found the same as they were before,
and it lost itself in beauties new, breathing its fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to greive and make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive – the rose still grows beyond the wall.
Scattering fragrance far and wide just as it did in days of yore,
just as it did on the other side, just as it will forevermore.

SPECIAL LITTLE SPIRIT - Author Unknown

"You're a Special Little Spirit," the all great Master said as he gently caressed the curly hair of the Little Spirit's Head. "You need to go to Earth to spend some time, you know, a place I send most Spirits to be tested, learn, and grow."

The Little Spirit, in sadness, slowly bowed her head, and from her eye a tear did steal and down her cheek it shed. "Don't you fret now little one, I won't let you stay too long. I'll bring you back to help me here. You'll hardly know you've been gone. You're my choicest Little Spirit; you're the apple of my eye." And he wiped the tear and gently kissed His Little Spirit goodbye.

"I'm back," the Little Spirit whispered, as she climbed onto her Master's knee. And the Master said, "I told you, you would not be long away from me." And then, the Lord, He noticed still another tear welled in her eye. "Why are you so sad, Little Spirit, whatever should make you cry?"

"I'm glad I'm back," the Spirit said, "but, Master, you must surely know...when your angel came to get me, I didn't want to go. I know you said you needed me and that I'd be gone the shortest while, but Lord, couldn't I have had a little longer earthly trial?"

The Master let the Little Spirit slip down from His knee. He firmly took her little hand and said, "Come walk with me." The Little Spirit and her Lord walked slowly hand in hand as the Master explained her special part in the great and marvelous plan.

"Now Lord, I don't mean to argue, I understand you need me home, but I left in such a hurry, I left everyone hurting and so alone. I didn't let my earthly parents know how much I loved them so. I was much too small to tell them, Lord. How will they ever know? They feel they've been cheated, and in a way so do I. Not getting to share any more than we did...how can I ever tell them why?"

"Little Spirit, I know your heart is heavy with the message you need to share, but you need not worry anymore...I'll watch over your loved ones there. I'll send them loving comfort as a strong and helping hand. I'll content and give peace to their aching hearts, so they will understand."

The Little Spirit looked up at her Master and said, "Thank you for explaining it to me. Please also be sure to tell them I'm safe and happy and that someday they'll be here with me."

"Yes," said the Lord with a smile and a nod. "I'll tell them all that I can." Then the others came to see the Little Spirit, as the Lord let go of her hand. He said, "I'll tell them you're pure, as pure as Heaven's Gold, and that I needed the warmth of your perfect soul to keep Heaven from getting cold."

LOOK EVERYONE! HERE SHE COMES! by Henry Van Dyke

I am standing on the shore as a great ship gently glides from the harbor and sails toward the horizon. She is beautiful. Sails billowing; and shining bright as sunlight sparkling on distant waters. She grows smaller and smaller until at last, her white sails shine as ribbons out where the sky and water mingle as one.

And as I watch, a voice behind me says, "Well, she's gone." Gone? No, she is not really gone. Not really. She is gone only in the sense that I can no longer see her. In reality, she is the same as ever; just as beautiful; just as shining.

And deep in my heart, I know that on another shore someone is crying out, "Look everyone! Here she comes!"

A GIFT OF LOVE

A gift of love was given, for just a little while;
a gift of love and laughter in a precious little child.

Someone to steal your heart away, a little hand to hold;
tiny footprints across your life, now left upon your soul.

The echoes of soft laughter, the sweetness of that face;
the child who brought you so much joy will never be replaced.

So take each loving memory of that precious little child;
know a gift came down from God, if just for a little while.

by Allison Chambers Coxsey

O’ Sweetest child...

I shall never forget your warm touch against my neck, or the brush of your lashes on my cheek; the butterfly kisses you plant on my brow.

Now a winged spirit, you sit upon your heavenly perch smiling down at me. You come to my ear now and then, whispering to me so I can hold onto loving memories. The soft down of your new wings flutters about me, causing a gentle breeze to fill my senses with the sweet, sweet smell of you; and often, oh so often, I feel the warmth of you spread across my face. I am reminded then, that until we meet again, you are safe and in a place of eternal love.

REMEMBRANCE - Author Unknown

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP by Mary Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die.
