Aubrey and Charger were the best of friends...even before the day that she came home from the hospital. When I was pregnant, Charger would rest his head on my belly...almost as if he could sense that Aubrey was in there. He had been so eager to meet his new little sister...and was even more excited as the days passed and he got to know her better. He always wanted to be right next to Aubrey, so if we were holding her, he usually tried to jump up in our laps with her. When Aubrey was little, Charger loved cuddling up next to her...and even as hyper as he could be sometimes, he was always very gentle around her.

As Aubrey grew, so did her fascination with Charger. It was clear that Aubrey just adored her puppy. It didn’t matter where she was or what he was doing...she loved just watching his every move. Charger was the same way. There were times when we thought that Charger was just jealous of his little sister... and while that may have been somewhat true, it was apparent to everyone that he loved Aubrey more than anything else in the world. He watched over Aubrey as if she was one of his own...always wanting to be right next to her...following people around as they carried her...and even sleeping underneath her crib at night.

Aubrey had so much fun playing with Charger...especially as she got a little older and could interact with him more. It was adorable watching her pet him...though she usually ended up just tugging on his ears. Charger often took his toys over to Aubrey, set them down, and then just stared at her...as if he was waiting for her to join in on his game of fetch. As much as Charger liked to play, his favorite thing to was show his best buddy how much he loved her by giving her lots and lots of kisses...from her cute little toes all the way up to her big, chubby cheeks.

MY BUDDY AND ME by Wendy Silva

I have a special friend who likes to join me when I play.
We have so much fun together that we play the day away.

My friend and I share our toys, the favorite and brand new.
The most fun we have are in games including two.

Whether we play in the house, watch movies, or go outside and run,
the childhood memories we make are filled with laughter and fun.

MY LITTLE FRIEND by Linda McBroom

I have a little friend who is always by my side.
We're never very far apart, no matter what the time.

I have a little friend who listens to what I say.
He doesn't judge me for what I've done, but what's inside of me.

He gives me the support I need to make it through the day,
and when I'm sad he seems to know just what I need to have.

My little friend is not like me and has some things I don't...four legs, a tail that wags, a nose that's wet and cold.

We'll never be that far apart, and when the time does come, I know we'll be together again in that spot above.
